Women entrepreneurs are nothing new, but what about women investors? Check out this piece in the The Salt Lake Tribune on VAST Equity, a private investment group launching this summer that's owned by a group of women. According to the National Venture Capital Association, it's one of only a handful of investment firms in the nation that's run by women. VAST plans to focus on funding women-owned businesses with revenues of $3 to $8 mill that are looking to expand. The trio of women operating the group are all experienced entrepreneurs, with one having sold her $22 million company last year to a private equity group and another acting as CEO of vacation properties business that made more than $100 million in revenues last year.
What's interesting about VAST is not only that it's one of the first-women owned investment firms out there, but how its investments will differ from those of traditional VC or private equity firms, if at all.
