Today's Wall Street Journal Independent Street Blog asks an interesting question: which presidential candidate is better for small business and entrepreneurship?
The Journal concludes that a McCain administration would be more favorable to small business owners based on two factors: his position on health care and his stance taxes.
But are health care and taxes all that small business owners and entrepreneurs really care about? Judging from the comments readers made about the article on the WSJ's website, they may have missed the boat. Notes one commenter:
"I don't care about the tax issues. What I care about is the overall economy. Four more years of GW Bush and his bumbling will kill my small business. I'm voting expertise here - Obama/Biden."
And says another:
"As the owner of a small business and member of a small business forum, I and all other members have the same complaint. It's not the taxes per se, it's the government roadblocks—federal, state and local. We would all be performing significantly better if we didn't have to follow regulations that don't promote safety or quality of products or services."
That's why we're putting the question to you for this week's survey. As a small business owner, entrepreneur, or just as an American citizen, do you care more about the general health of the economy, taxes, small business healthcare policy, or all of the above? For extra credit, tell us how - and if - that will influence your vote this Fall.

As a nontrepeneur, the general health of the economy is probably most important to me, but I don't think I'm alone. There can be any number of tweaks to the tax code or health care policy with regard to small business, but if no one has any disposable income or credit to spend at your business, they won't much matter.
