Today In Start-Up History: IBM.
When it comes to technology and personal computers these days it seems all you hear about is Apple this, and Apple that. It's easy to forget that long before everyone was oohing and ahhing over the MacBook Air, there was another cool kid in town. On August 12, 1981—27 years ago—IBM released its Personal Computer. A mere four months later Time magazine named the computer its "Man of the Year." While those PCs have long since been relegated to the junk heap, they still get a tip of the hat for being at the forefront of what turned into a revolution.
