The $100 Million Dollar Logo.

When it comes to whether you need a logo for your start-up and business plan, we're the first to tell you that you not only need one, but you need a good one. It should be eye-catching, meaningful, and, well, look good. The real question is how much you should pay for a great logo. This can be especially tricky, because logos are difficult to ascribe a fixed value to. But is there ever an instance where a logo is worth hundreds of millions of dollars? Pepsi seems to think so.

Now, we're no stranger to large corporations spending millions—even billions—on things that most start-ups would budget a few thousand dollars for in their business plans. But the amount Pepsi paid for their new logo seems especially egregious. Not only did they write a top firm a check for $1 million to revamp the logo, according to AdAge, but it's estimated that they'll spend several hundred million more implementing the new logo. Given how much this new image cost Pepsi, it must be something really special, right? Since we aren't the judgmental type, we thought we'd let you decide for yourself.
