Success Story: SaysMe.

If the proliferation of blogs, social networking sites, and online video content has taught us anything, it's that people like to voice their opinions. A lot. Up until now though, the Internet has been the primary outlet for the Tom, Dick, Harry, and Janes who wants to mouth off about everything from celeb gossip to politics.

That is, until the start-up SaysMe came up with their unique idea. They offer a service where they take homemade videos (advertisements, rants, miscellaneous commentary, etc.) submitted via the web, and place them in advertising spots on cable television. With a starting price of a mere $6 bucks for a 25 second spot, it's a sweet deal for bloggers or other Internet personalities who want to take their message to the small screen. Assuming, as the New York Times notes, that: "you are O.K. with appearing on CNN Headline News sometime next week in parts of Charlotte, N.C., in the wee hours."

Right now SaysMe is primarily focused on reaching out to small-time political commentators given the hot debate and timeliness of the upcoming presidential election. However, they say that they're not excluding anyone—which means even small business owners who want to push their business for cheap (most ads run about $60) can get a deal. While television advertising has long been considered overly expensive for smaller companies—and certainly for most small Internet businesses—SaysMe may change that. The start-up may also open up a whole new medium to the kind of rabblerousing that's been going down on the Internet now for years. While that's yet to be seen, it's clear that investors believe that there's real potential. Just last April they received a chunk of funding (the amount was not disclosed) from investors that included Intel Capital. Of course, investors have been wrong before...what do you think?
