Now that we've got your attention...this week's survey question asked what issues are most important to you as an entrepreneur, small business owner, or interested third party this election. While tax rates have historically been important to business owners, increasingly other concerns—like the rising cost of health care, as well as the general welfare of the economy—seem to rank up there with how much cash you're turning over to Uncle Sam. And that appears to be true of entrepreneurs and non-business owners alike. Says reader benpirie:
"As a nontrepreneur, the general health of the economy is probably most important to me, but I don't think I'm alone. There can be any number of tweaks to the tax code or health care policy with regard to small business, but if no one has any disposable income or credit to spend at your business, they won't much matter."
It's a point voiced repeatedly by small business owners on a blog post over at the Wall Street Journal that originally prompted this survey question. It makes sense. The current economy has hit all businesses—big and small—hard this year. The credit crunch, as well as soaring inflation and the rising cost of goods and fuel deeply impacted everyone from entrepreneurs to corporate CEOs. Want to disagree about what's important to you as a small business owner? There's still time to weigh in, using the comments section below.
But enough drivel for Friday. Back to Miss Popularity:
