Whoops—that rumor TechCrunch reported yesterday about the Microsoft-Yahoo talks being back on? So not true. Nonetheless, the rumor shook up the stock market yesterday—demonstrating just how powerful certain blogs have become. Yahoo shares rose 11% after the rumors appeared online, but dropped again after CNBC reported that the story was bogus to finish at $21.80 a share.
