Pixar Preaches Reducing Waste With Wall-E, Ignores Own Message.

What's up with Pixar's marketing for their newest film Wall-E? While last week "Pixar guru" John Lasseter explained his success to the L.A. Times by saying: "Quality is the best business plan," that sentiment doesn't seem to extend to the company's marketing deparment.

Pixar's newest film, Wall-E, is about a robot (same name) with a cockroach sidekick who's been tasked with cleaning up a planet overrun with junk and waste that humans have abandoned. Watch Wall-E in action here.

Neat, right? Except here's where the irony comes in: the Seattle Stranger's reporting that movie-goers who saw Wall-E last weekend were given cheap plastic watches in plastic wrap (see image, swiped from their site, below).

Wha? While the whole premise of the film is that the humans should cut down on their consumption of goods, Pixar is handing out a Made In China throw-away toy with a non-replaceable battery as a promo item and all the while the media is applauding the film for "making us greener."

We heart corporate irony.

Pixar was just testing the audience. They failed.
