Oil Prices Skyrocket, So Does Cost of Burger
The price of oil is rising! Food costs are going up! And so, apparently, is the price of a hamburger in NYC. The Wall Street Burger Shoppe (where else?) announced this week that's offering a $175 dollar hamburger. While that's a hell of a gas surcharge to pass onto customers, the price is also "justified" by the burger's ingredients. It's made with a Kobe beef patty, and is topped with black truffles, foie gras, aged Gruyere, wild mushrooms, and gold flecks. Despite rising oil costs (and a volatile stock market) Wall Street still loooves excess—something the savvy entrepreneurs who own the bistro recognized. They sell between 20-25 of the burgers each month.
