More Money: We Should Have Been A Programmer.

-Ticketleap, an online ticketing company, secured $2 million in first round funding this week. Unlike evil overlords, er, companies like Ticketmaster, Ticketleap allows anyone, anywhere to sell ticket online. Say you're organizing an event or concert, Ticketleap lets you set up a page on their site and sell tickets free of charge. The company says they'll use their new found wealth to hire new employees and continue work on technology and marketing.

-Web-based advertising business ContextWeb raised $26 million in fourth (!) round funding. The company, as its name implies, sells "contextual" advertisements and hosts ADSAQ, and open market where people selling ad space and those who need ad space can make a match.

-Qumu snagged $10.7 million in funding earlier this week. They produce software that makes it easier for tech novices to create and publish video content on the Internet (it's for business - get your mind out of the gutter). They plan to use the money for further product development and marketing. This new round brings their total funding to date to $18 million, which is pretty good for a company that created the software equivalent of a camcorder.

-Phurnace Software Inc., a company that makes software specifically to troubleshoot and speed up Java (who knew it was that bad?), has closed $5 million in first round funding. While the company says that its main product, Phurnace Deliver, is already being used by "some of the country's largest companies," they plan to use the additional cash to expand marketing and sales.

-This week's big winner was Soma Networks, a SF-based start-up thatnailed a $51 million round of VC funding for its international WiMax and broadband network. The company plans to use the cash to continue expanding its reach in countries like India, Canada, Singapore, and Brazil.
