-Xoft, a biotech company that makes an "electronic" cancer treatment nailed $25 mill in fifth round funding. Its product, which sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel, uses a miniature X-ray to beam non-isotope based radiation at a tumor or cancerous cells. Exciting stuff.
-GoodBelly, a start-up that makes foofy probiotic fruit drinks, secured $16 million in venture capital investment. The company says that their product is the "the first fruit-based, dairy-free probiotic product of its kind in the US." Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz's venture firm was involved in the deal—which could mean you'll see these drinks at a Starbucks near you soon.
