John McCain Loves His Crocs.

Yesterday we asked how much you care about presidential economics policy—and the question may have answered itself since no one's responded as yet. (That's a gentle nudge.)

But let's toss a little fuel on the fire with this clip of John McCain yesterday weighing on American industry, which he says is doing awesome. Well, sort of. Since McCain was in Colorado, he decided to talk up homegrown small business Crocs—the company that makes those terrible plastic clogs that were so popular for ten minutes.

While it's sweet that McCain praised a local business, he could have chosen a better example of a company that typifies American small business. Crocs have lost a whopping 90% of their market value since last fall and their stock is at an all-time low.

Some people say that McCain doesn't know anything about economics (actually, he was quoted as saying that about himself in the Boston Globe)—but when you think about it, he chose a company that perfectly typifies the state of American industry, just not his version of it...
