Ikea To Fund Green Start-Ups.

Have a clean tech start-up that needs funding? Look no further than Ikea, the Swedish home furnishings company that's currently best known for cheap (but cool) home furnishings and $1 meatballs.

This week they announced that they're getting in the investment game - and that they're specifically interested in funding clean tech. Ikea plans to invest more than 50 million Euros (that's about $75 mill USD) in between 8 to 10 start-ups over the next five years, according to the Cleantech Group. They intend to focus on five fields, including solar panels, energy efficiency, alternative light sources, green product materials, and water saving tools. Their hope is to eventually sell green products like solar panels and smart meters to consumers in stores.
