Here's Who Had A Rough Week.

-Steve & Barry's, the cheapo clothing retailer best known for selling Sarah Jessica Parker's "Bitten" label, may shutter more than 100 of its stores and is considering "a full liquidation" if they can't find emergency financing, reports the Wall Street Journal. Word is they're scrambling to find a quick solution to their financial woes.

-Starbucks announced that they plan to close 600 stores and cut up to 12,000 jobs, as we noted earlier this week. That's 500 more stores than they'd originally intended to shutter.

-The merger of Bank of America and one of the most-hated companies in the nation—Countrywide—is resulting in 7,500 employees being laid off. With these new cuts, expect more vitriol directed Countrywide's way.

-Speaking of employees, we generally had it bad this week. American employers axed jobs for the sixth month in a row, according to the Labor Department. National unemployment is still at 5.5%, after that number jumped the most in twenty years in May.

-Anheuser-Busch may have staved off an acquisition by Belgian brew conglomerate InBev for now—but the decision not to take the buyout is costing them. Anheuser-Busch, who makes Budweiser, is planning to cut its salaried workforce by more than 15%. For its part, InBev is continuing to pursue a takeover.

Er, Happy Friday?
