Celeb Business Model: 6126.

It seems like every few months another celeb tries their hand at small business by launching a clothing line/perfume/beverage/restaurant. And while some work (hey, we still love our Foreman Grill!), others just don't.

Take Lindsay Lohan—who recently launched 6126, a line of leggings which we're certain she designed herself. She's selling four different styles at Shop Intuition, which you can check out here. If you manage to get past that fact that one pair is made entirely of that shiny spandex that looks horrific on everyone (see below), her designs aren't half bad...they're just not good either.

Now we love Lindsay Lohan as much as the next person (She was great in Mean Girls!). But she seems to be under the impression that slapping her name on a label should triple an item's retail price. Her leggings run $100 and up. Newsflash Lindsay: when a similar pair of leggings is available for a mere $30 at American Apparel, why would anyone (especially in this market) drop three times that on your label? Unless 6126 leggings actually come in extra special fabrics, with platinum zippers, or a piece of your MTV Movie Award, we're giving them a pass.

But am I being too harsh? We've debated whether celebrity is sufficient to carry a business before (with the verdict being it depends on which celeb you're talking about). And even if we're not takers, do you think there are legions of teenage girls out there who'll pony up $100 for a pair of Lohan's leggings?

What do you think?

There is no way on God's green earth that I would pay $100 bucks for spandex--even if it had gold jewels embedded in them somewhere. Call me cheap, but my leggings, which are just as good as the next person's, cost me $8.90 at Forever 21.
Just because a celebrity "designed" a piece of fabric that fits snugly on legs, doesn't mean they are any better or creative. Sorry, Lindsay.
