Another One Bites the Dust: Akimbo
Ouch. Just months after raking in $4 million in new funding, video set-top box company Akimbo kicked the bucket today, says VentureBeat.
Apparently a new management team and an influx of cash couldn't save the company, which laid of pretty much the whole company earlier this month. Akimbo had raised a total of $47 million to date.
Along with the news of Akimbo's demise, VentureBeat issued the following, which is obviously true of almost any tech field, but, um, duh: : "If there's a lesson, it's probably that this video industry is red hot, but also frenetic, and way saturated, and that a company is toast if it's just a step behind."
You've been warned. RIP, Akimbo.
