It used to be that start-ups would announce their death with a blog or—way back in the old days—with a press release. Not Eyespot. They decided to do the truly modern thing by telling the world about their demise via Twitter, bad grammar and all: "Eyespot has shut down. Lots of great peeps available: engr, product mgmt, HR, content, bizdev, account mgmt. Let me know if u need anyone."
It appears that the start-up may be a casualty of the down economy. While Eyespot, which made an online video editor, secured $3.7 million two years ago, word is that they ran out of cash after a mergers and acquisition deal fell through, according to TechCrunch. After attempts to raise any more cash failed, they folded on Monday.
RIP, Eyespot.
